God took a census of the people of Israel in order to divide the land according to the names. Large tribe, large inheritance and small tribe, smaill inheritance.
God devised a plan to pass down inheritances within the family/clan if the father had no sons. or no daughters, or no brothers, or no uncles, (father’s brothers), it should be passed down to the nearest kinsman. This is a practice that should be done today through a Will.
Joshua takes Moses’ place.
I continued my studying in Numbers 16. My takeaway: Be it good or be it bad, there is still no limit to what God’s people can do when they decide to work together.
In this instance, unfortunately, it was bad. One small group of God’s people became jealous of Moses, and another small group became jealous of Aaron. But when they joined forces…WOW! Together they formed a massive rebellion of people against Moses and Aaron. Of course the ground opened up, swallowed them all whole, and then close back…but, the magnitude of influence a group of God’s people has when they work together remains undeniable:)
