1) Trust in God’s word, he cannot lie.
2) The Lord is in the blessing business, for those who believe, and trust in him.
3) God will deliver you from your enemies.
I continued my reading in Exodus via chapters 20-24. I was actually surprised to realize that there was more to this section than just “The 10 Commandments.” God literally gave Moses something more like our US Constitution (Amendments included) worth of regulations, for him to relay to and implement among His people.
It was fascinating to see how specific God was–detailing every thought and deed with what would be considered “right” and “wrong” in living and dealing fairly with each other. This was the first time I saw mankind receiving an actual moral compass from God…some guidelines for their “fresh start.” But, what made it particularly interesting for me was WHAT God deemed necessary to have to spell out to His people. For hundred and hundreds of years, He had been observing mankind. And, for me, this address of law/values/principles/morally correct behavior, was in response to what He had observed us doing already.
If the Bible is a book of life instructions for God’s people, though, then His observations were not simply of mankind, but of His people…which means WE TOO fell guilty to some heinous stuff! I mean, come on, He literally had to tell us not to be having sex with animals!!

My reading for this day was from Romans 16, Numbers 29-20 & Proverbs 17. Romans 16 warns about flattery and smooth talk, a dangerous combination.
