I continued reading in Genesis (chapters 18-20). My takeaways:
1) At the plea of the righteous, God will have mercy on the unrighteous (Ch 18). But we have to care enough to go to God on their behalf.
2)Even in our best efforts to save people we know are doomed for condemnation, we still may come up short (Ch 19). Of the 10 righteous people needed to save the cities of Sodom & Gomorrah from being destroyed, only four (4) were found. But that’s four that would not have been saved otherwise. So, even if our efforts to us seem in vain, we have to keep going to God on behalf of this world because there are still some savable folk who will not make it out otherwise…even if some of them eventually turn back.
3) God is a god of His word (Ch 20). As Abraham now, in 20:14 we start to see God’s promise made back in 12:3 that He would bless those that blessed Abraham, start to unfold. No matter how “late in the game” we think it is, He’s still going to show up for us like He said He would…even if it’s not until what we consider our ‘old age.’ So, we can’t become impatient, live doubtfully, or worse: give up altogether, as we SEE time passing us by. Faith is hope originated in the UNSEEN (Heb. 11:1)…right? So, we have to stay the course brand new each day, keeping alive in the back of our minds that “today could very well be the day that God’s promise to me is going to start to unfold.”
