1) Sometimes it seems like the wicked people are more prosperous than the good ones.
2) When we go through trials, and tribulations. We are being tried like gold.
3) Do not depart from the word of God. It is better than food.
I continued reading in Genesis (chapters 26-30). This was the first time that I put 2-and-2 together as it relates to the similarities of Abraham and Isaac. Abimelech went through a “like father like son” with Isaac–1) Isaac told him that Rachel was his sister rather than his wife [just as Abraham did with Sarah], 2) Abimelech had to call him out on it, and he gave the same reasoning his father [Abraham] did, and 3) it was made clear to Abimelech that God was with Isaac the way he was with Abraham, so in looking out for himself and his people he would make a treaty with Isaac also as he did with Abraham.
Again, my takeaway: Children are mini imitators/mini recorders of their parents! So, as parents, we should never stop being mindful of that. Just like we learned to run every thought through a “WWJD” filter before letting them proceed out in our words, we should run every mannerism/behavior/action through a “parent after God’s own heart” filter before letting them proceed out in our lifestyles.
